Erin Selby is officially running federally for the NDP in St. Boniface.

Selby made the announcement in a room of supporters Friday morning.

She will tender her resignation letter to the speaker's office at the legislature later Friday.

Selby has been the Southdale MLA since 2007.

She was one of five former ministers who tried to force Premier Greg Selinger out of office.

Selby could have an uphill battle in St. Boniface. Former city councillor Dan Vandal is running for the Liberals. Francois Catellier is carrying the Conservative banner and Glenn Zaretski is the Green candidate.
