Lisa Meeches, a well-known indigenous activist, a film producer and the executive director of Winnipeg’s Manito Ahbee Festival, is in intensive care unit at a Calgary hospital.
In a Facebook post Saturday, her spouse Dale Shirt said “prayers for an amazing lady.”
Shirt wrote that Meeches suffered a stroke, “with further seizures due from a resultant brain bleed.”
He said her prognosis wasn’t clear, and that she hadn’t been conscious since Friday morning.
CTV has reached out to Shirt for more information.
