A former high-ranking police officer with the city of Winnipeg wants to make the jump to politics.
Former deputy chief Shelley Hart retired from the Winnipeg Police Service earlier this year.
Tuesday she announced she wants to be the next mayor of East St. Paul, northeast of Winnipeg.
East St. Paul's election is the same day as Winnipeg’s. Both are set for October 22.
