SURREY, B.C. - A B.C. real-estate agent says a man found dead in a Surrey home on Friday appeared with her on a Doctor Phil show about women who marry imposters.

Sheri Brown says police told her that her 52-year-old ex-husband Timothy Szabolcsi was found dead in his South Surrey home on Friday.

Brown says she met the smooth-talking man in a pub in 2012 and married him that September, but not before researching and turning up nothing on his background.

But she says within two weeks of being married, she knew something was wrong because he had no money and suddenly had no job.

She says she investigated him again and learned she was his fifth wife, he had as many as six children, and served time in a Texas prison.

A Texas Medical Board bulletin says Szabolcsi was convicted of felony theft for stealing thousands from the health-care system while impersonating a doctor.

Brown says she kicked him out at the end of March 2013, filed for divorce, and appeared on Doctor Phil with him.

Homicide Investigator Sergeant Bari Imam says Szabolcsi was from Manitoba and has a history with police involving frauds but couldn't confirm any specific details.
