A man claiming to be a ‘Freeman of the Land’ who refuses to recognize Canadian law made an appearance in a Winnipeg court Monday.
Dean Clifford faces more than a dozen charges, many of them related to firearms.
Clifford is representing himself and refused to enter pleas to the charges.
“I object to the proceedings in their entirety,” he responded as each count was read out.
The judge entered not guilty pleas on Clifford’s behalf.
Members of the Freeman Movement believe citizens are not bound by the rules of Canadian laws.
The Crown’s case is expected to wrap up Thursday.
