Longtime sporting goods store Gord’s Ski and Bike has gone out of business after 52 years in Winnipeg. The store employed 30 people.
The store is now in the hands of a receiver. A sign on the door says “Closed for inventory,” but on Thursday the store announced it is closing its Donald Street shop for good.
The owner released a statement that the store was not profitable or sustainable. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2008 but was able to gather enough funds from investors to stay open.
The Kenaston Boulevard location and a location and Banff, Alberta closed last year.
A liquidation sale will be held.
