A Winnipeg man who sustained a concussion in a rollover near Treherne Tuesday evening is awaiting a reunion with his pet dog, Moose.

Joshua Alderson, 29, told CTV he was driving east on Highway 2 near Hwy. 242 when he hit a turkey and lost control of his vehicle.

He says when his SUV rolled, the roof collapsed, knocking him unconscious. While emergency responders made their way to the crash, Moose got loose.

Alderson was rushed to hospital. He says despite still feeling dizzy and having problems walking, he’s feeling okay and didn’t break any bones. He says doctors told him he sustained a bad concussion.

Wednesday night, Alderson returned to the Treherne area in hopes of finding Moose. Alderson says he lives with anxiety, and the three-year-old Brussels Griffon always calms him down.

“He's my best friend. We do go everything together. He's my support animal,” Alderson told CTV News in a telephone call Wednesday.

Alderson and his family, along with RCMP, searched the area.

Late Wednesday, Alderson said he received a text message that Moose was found safe and sound three-quarters of a mile south of Highway 2.

Other than a scratch on his ear and some ticks, Alderson said the dog is happy and he is ecstatic.
