A man has died following a crash on a Manitoba highway in the Municipality of McCreary.

Police said it happened at around 9 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 5 near the junction with Provincial Road 50, about 80 kilometres northwest of Dauphin.

According to police, a car travelling southbound on Highway 5 crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer.

Officials said the driver of the car was a 51-year-old man from Toronto, who was riding alone at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer didn’t suffer serious injuries, police said.

A collision reconstructionist is helping with the ongoing investigation, to find out contributing factors to the collision.
