A Winnipeg man faces attempted murder charges after a man was assaulted in downtown Winnipeg.

Police said the incident happened Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Main Street. Emergency crews were called to the area, where they found a 57-year-old man who had been assaulted.

He was taken to hospital in unstable condition. He is now in stable but critical condition.

Soon after, police arrested a suspect around the Main and Higgins Avenue area.

Aaron Bryan Houle, 33, faces a slew of charges including attempted murder and robbery.
