Police in the RM of Springfield arrested a 64-year-old man for allegedly making child pornography involving his family members.

On June 5, Oakbank RCMP received a report of a man secretly recording his young family members and encouraging sexual acts. He also gave sexually explicit materials to minors and possessed child pornography, police said.

Police arrested the man on June 11 on charges of voyeurism, making and possessing child pornography, and providing sexually explicit material to a child.

The man also faces firearms charges after police say they found unsafely stored firearms while executing the arrest warrant.

Police are not releasing the man’s name to protect the identity of the victims. He will appear in Beausejour Provincial Court on September 2.
