A suspect faces a murder charge in connection with the 1985 killing of Michael Kalanza.

He went missing that year from Faulkner, Man.

His remains were found and unearthed in 1997 by a group of Grade 9 students on a field trip to the old Spearhill limestone quarry.

In May 2015, RCMP announced they were pursuing new leads in the case.

Investigators from the Manitoba RCMP historical case unit arrested Lee Norman Pischke, 50, from the RM of Grahamdale on Sept. 25.

He faces a second-degree murder charge.

A 53-year-old man from Winnipeg was also arrested on Sept. 16 but has been released, said RCMP.

Officers continue to investigate the case.
