Winnipeg police called for the public’s help in a homicide investigation after a man was found dead in an apartment suite in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue on April 1.

Officers identified the victim as John David Goundry, 51, of Winnipeg.

Police said an autopsy has been completed but the cause of death is not being released at this time.

It’s believed the homicide happened between March 2 and March 7 within the victim’s suite.

Police said an investigation suggests the victim had only a small group of friends who visited his residence.

The victim, who had limited mobility, was known to travel within downtown Winnipeg on his bicycle, said officers.

Homicide investigators are asking for the public’s help with information on who may have been involved in his life or have visited his suite between March 2 and March 7.

Anyone who has information who has not already spoken to police can call investigators at: 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
