Winnipeg police have arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing death of 20-year-old Cherie Lynn Richard.
Around 5:30 a.m. on July 22, police and paramedics were called to the 500 block of Furby Street for a report of an injured woman.
Richard was rushed to hospital but died from injuries.
Officers said an investigation showed the victim and another woman had been in the area when they were approached by a man and two other women. A verbal altercation broke out and the victim was stabbed, said police.
A suspect was arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
Derrick Mark Sanderson, 22, of Winnipeg faces a charge for second-degree murder and breach of probation, said police.
