The Pan Am Pool is reopening this weekend after being closed for renovations for two months.

Mayor Brian Bowman helped show off the upgrades to the facility Friday morning.

The improvements were made in preparation for the 2017 Canada Summer Games to be hosted in Winnipeg.

Upgrades include a new dual bulkhead system, a renovated diving tower, as well as improvements to the locker and shower areas, and parking lot.

"This is a prime example of a world class facility, one that there have been ongoing investments over many years, by many administrations and levels of government,” Bowman said.

“This is just one more investment in making sure that this facility can continue to do so much for our community."

The improvements cost nearly $9 million.

The Pan Am Pool will reopen to the public Saturday.

The 2017 Canada Summer Games will take place in Winnipeg July 28 to August 13.
