Winnipeg police and emergency crews blocked off streets around the Law Courts building after a report of a suspicious package on Friday.

The Bomb Unit vehicle and an ambulance could be seen in the area.

What police found was a backpack, which turned out not to be dangerous – there was a mat, a blanket and a pillow inside.

This is the second report of a suspicious package on Friday. Earlier in the day, police blocked off streets around the police headquarters after a suitcase was found abandoned.

It was determined that the suitcase did not pose a threat.

On Wednesday, a small explosion outside the Law Courts building sent one person to hospital as a precaution. Police are still searching for a suspect in that incident.
