Winnipeg police have laid charges in the March 2012 murder of a young aspiring model.
Johnathen Felix was shot and killed in the 200 block of Balmoral Street on March 31, 2012. The 21-year-old’s body went undiscovered for nearly 15 hours, as he lay between two houses on the street.
Now, police have laid second-degree murder charges against a 19-year-old man.
Derek Davin Merrick was charged on the afternoon of Jan. 10.
CTV News recently reported that Felix's family was urging the public to come forward with information. Const. Jason Michalyshen said that may have assisted in the investigation.
"Certain members of the media did do further stories and exclusive stories that did certainly assist us," said Michalyshen.
Merrick remains in custody, and police continue to investigate.
