Winnipeg police will go head-to-head with NHL players in the Goals for Dreams Hockey Challenge on Saturday, November 17.
The Winnipeg Police Service Patrolmen Hockey Club will be playing against the National Hockey League Players Association. NHLPA players include Blake Wheeler, Dustin Byfuglien, Brian Little, Jim Slater, Olli Jokinen, Tanner Glass, Travis Zajac, Colin Wilson, Shane Hnidy and Jonathon Toews.
The game includes mascots, tykes’ teams and an autograph session. At the end of the game, attendees will have the opportunity to win the NHLPA players’ jerseys.
The event will raise money for The Dream Factory, a Manitoba-based children’s charity that provides wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. It will also help support The Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The Patrolmen team is made up of Winnipeg Police Officers, with the majority of the team having either NHL, AHL, ECHL, CHL, WHL, OHL, or NCAA playing experience. The team has been in existence since 1998, and has raised over $280,000 for Manitoba-based charities.
The event will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the University of Manitoba’s Max Bell Centre.
