Portage la Prairie head-on crash kills two people

A man and a woman died in a head-on crash in Portage la Prairie on Sept. 23.

RCMP and emergency crews responded around 1:45 p.m. to a collision between a southbound car and a northbound pickup truck on 68 Road North and Road 39 West.

The 50-year-old driver and 40-year-old passenger in the car, both from Sandy Bay First Nation, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old driver in the truck went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 17-year-old passenger was not injured.

RCMP do not believe alcohol is a factor in the crash.

A forensic reconstructionist is helping with the investigation.
