Rough weather forced the cancellation of the Biking top the Viking MS Bike Tour on Sunday.

Organizers cancelled the second day of the bike ride from Gimli back to Stonewall because high wind and thunderstorms made riding unsafe. Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for much of the Interlake Region where 30 to 50 mm or rain has fallen, with another 15 to 25 mm expected.

"The safety of our cyclists are our top priority," Donna Boyd, MS Society President, said in a news release.

The MS Society said riders applauded with relief when they made the announcement, despite some disappointment.

The cyclists, along with their luggage and bikes, are being shuttled to the finish line in Stonewall where final festivities will go ahead as planned.
