Mayoral candidates focused on issues important to those living in the North End Monday night.

North End Votes held a forum at the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre.

The non-partisan organization aims to increase voter engagement and participation in the area.

“I definitely think that people are more involved,” said Jasmine Tera from North End Votes. “I feel like maybe it was a shoe in the bucket before and now it's more like you have to kind of fight if you want to win this.”

Six of the seven mayoral candidates showed up. Gord Steeves was absent.

Candidates fielded questions about area revitalization, missing and murdered indigenous women, and poverty solutions.

The North End Votes organization can help residents with questions about voting or ones who want to vote, but don't have a fixed address.
