Winnipeg police said three suspects were arrested after an armed robbery and stabbing at The Forks Sunday evening around 7 p.m.

According to police, the 31-year-old male victim was skiing on the river when he was confronted by three people who demanded his wallet.

Police said one suspect was armed with a knife and, during a struggle, the victim was stabbed in the upper body. The victim managed to break and fled to safety.

He was treated for minor injuries in hospital and released.

Police said they arrested a 23-year-old man and two youths, age 16 and 17, nearby.

The suspects each face a charge of robbery.

Clare MacKay at The Forks called the incident an isolated one.

“We work really closely with the Winnipeg police as well as Downtown Biz and the cadets, so we believe we have an ample security program and review it constantly,” said MacKay.
