RCMP said a 16-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide that took place on Long Plain First Nation on Saturday.

The Mounties said they located the youth on Monday and he is now in police custody.

The family of the victim told CTV News the victim's name is John Richard Jr. He was 30-years-old.

The Dakota Ojibway Police Service is assisting with the investigation.

Long Plain First Nation is about 90 kilometres west of Winnipeg.
