The count stops at 11.

Winnipeg Blue Bomber fans can stop keeping track of the number of consecutive years the blue and gold have travelled to Regina only to lose the Labour Day Classic to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

It may not have been pretty at the end but the Blue Bombers managed to pull off a 28-25 victory over their prairie rival to end the 11-year drought.

Justin Medlock hit a 43-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Bombers who have now won five games in a row and improved their season record to six wins and four losses.

It was a homecoming for Blue Bombers receiver Weston Dressler who’s now a perfect 9-0 in Labour Day games. This was his first win as a member of the visiting team.

“I love the football team we have right now there’s so much character,” Dressler told TSN after the game. “Guys are bonding together, we’re coming together as a team and that’s something special.”

Dressler said the Bombers struggled to execute at times but fought through to get the win.

“To find a way to win this game on Labour Day here… I’ve been on the other side so long I know how hard it is for someone to come in here on Labour Day and win so this a special win.”
