Winnipeg will take part in an international torch relay run to promote human rights around the world, Saturday.

Nominees from about 100 Manitoba organizations have been chosen to run in the 19 kilometre event.

The run kicks off at the Thunderbird House at 10 a.m. and concludes with a free family celebration at Assiniboine Park.

Canada is one of 10 countries participating in the 2016 Torch of Dignity Relay.

Each city will submit a video of their torch run that will be included in a documentary for distribution around the world.

The Torch of Dignity is a symbol of commitment to work together to enhance human rights.
