The mother of a missing Oxford House First Nation woman made an emotional plea Wednesday in the hopes her daughter was listening.

“Christine, we want you to know that we love you, we miss you, and we’re worried about you,” Melinda Wood said at a police news conference.

Melinda’s daughter, Christine Wood was last seen on Aug. 19. She was staying in Winnipeg with family from Oxford House First Nation, and went out for a night with friends.

Winnipeg police said Christine never returned to the hotel where they were staying. Texts and calls have gone unanswered.

Officers said Wood may have spent time with people leading a high risk lifestyle.

“We are not saying Christine is leading that lifestyle,” said Insp. Kelly Dennison.

“What we are suggesting is that maybe some the individuals that she has associated with, or know her whereabouts, are the ones leading this high risk lifestyle, and what we are talking about is individuals that may have knowledge of the drug trade here in Winnipeg or spend more time on the streets.”

Police said there have been no confirmed sightings of the 21-year old and no activity on her bank card.

Wood was last seen wearing a green top with a red striped adidas jacket, denim shorts and was carrying a white purse.

Officials also released a photo Wednesday showing Wood has a chipped tooth.

“We want to stress to friends, or anyone in a position to help, if you have any information about Christine, please call police,” Melinda said.
