Thousands in Winnipeg joined runners across the country on Sunday in the CIBC Run For The Cure.

The Winnipeg event took place at Shaw Park and most of the 4,200 people who participated wore pink to honour women who have faced the challenge of breast cancer.

Participants in Winnipeg have raised $585,000 so far and donations continue to be accepted until the end of the year.

The nation-wide event is organized by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and takes place in 61 cities and towns across the country.
