A Winnipeg youth accused in a murder that devastated a close-knit neighbourhood in Charleswood has been denied bail.
On May 19, 2015, Kathleen Leary was found in her home on Cheltenham Cove with serious upper body injuries. Leary was originally from Norway House Cree Nation.
Friends described her as a compassionate and loving person.
Winnipeg police have charged a youth with second degree murder. The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act,
Police say the youth and Leary knew one another.
The next court date is set for Sept. 18, 2015.
