Pipeline protesters gathered at Portage and Main Thursday night.

A group of Winnipeggers came to the city's iconic intersection with signs and drums to demonstrate against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's approval of the Kinder Morgan and Enbridge Line 3 pipeline.

The Enbridge line will pass through the southwestern corner of Manitoba.

Opponents of pipelines worry they could contaminate drinking water.

"we're not here to make anybody’s life inconvenient in any way. We want their support. We want a honk, we want them to raise their fist out there and we want them to go out and spread the message amongst themselves, as well," said Karla Rawluk.

The group says Trudeau broke his promise to not build new pipelines.

They said no community would want to see that construction in their backyard.
