Nearly 150 volunteers were sandbagging into the night Tuesday and into Wednesday as the town of Swan River guards against rising waters.

A local state of emergency had been declared Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the town's mayor said officials have now downgraded the amount of water expected from the Swan River.

The town continues to monitor levels and has more sandbags and flood tubes ready should they be needed.

The province said Wednesday a flood warning remains in effect for the town of Swan River, as well as for low-lying areas along the Souris River.

More flood information is available on the province's website or by calling 1-866-6262-4862 (toll-free).
