Things are returning to normal at Kildonan Place Shopping Centre after a chaotic scene at closing time on Wednesday night.

Just before 9 p.m. a blown transformer cut power to the mall and several other businesses.

A mall spokesperson said shoppers and employees were told to evacuate after a rooftop ventilation unit started smoking.

The Winnipeg Fire Department was called but they did not find a fire.

The mall’s twitter account indicates they will be open for business as usual Thursday.
