No Stone Left Alone was launched in 2011 by an Edmonton woman who was inspired by her deceased parents who both served in the Second World War.

It became her mission to see that one day all of the soldier's headstones in Canada would have a poppy placed in their honour to resemble the idea of Flanders Fields.

This year, Ecole Harrison in Brandon, Man. became the first school east of Alberta to participate in the initiative.

A total of 325 students from kindergarten to Grade 8 gathered at the Brandon Cemetery to place a poppy on more than 1,200 headstones in honour of service men and women on Nov. 10.
