The city's battle against the elm bark beetle is expected to begin Monday, June 23.
Crews will start by spraying trees in the Transcona area to combat the bug.
The elm bark beetle is what spreads Dutch elm disease.
In past years the city has focused its spraying efforts on treating elms on public and private properties along river corridors, and in areas where diseased elms have been identified.
This year the program is being expanded to treat all elms in the city. Half of the elm population will be treated each year on a two-year rotation.
This year's program will focus on the east and south portions of the city.
