Winnipeg police and RCMP warned drivers to be cautious of slippery road conditions after a city ambulance was involved in a collision.
RCMP officers and Winnipeg police were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night.
Officials said an ambulance had been rear-ended.
RCMP said the ambulance had been on scene for a two-vehicle collision on Canada Way, about two kilometres west of Brookside Boulevard. Two vehicles were in the ditch and paramedics responded to help a driver who had minor injuries, said RCMP.
The ambulance had its emergency lights on and was parked in the curb lane on the westbound side of the road. A pickup truck struck the ambulance from behind.
RCMP said the collision pushed the ambulance into a man who is a family member of one of the drivers involved in the earlier crash.
“The civilian suffered minor injuries as did the two female (medical services) workers inside the ambulance at the time of the collision,” said RCMP in a statement.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene.
RCMP continue to investigate and have not yet made an arrest.
