Police say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in a deadly crash that killed two people and injured three others Thursday night.

RCMP say two mini-vans collided on Edwin Road near the Dakota Plains First Nation just before 10:00 p.m.

A 37-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman died at the scene. They were both passengers in one of the vans.

The van's driver, a 43-year-old man, and a 12-year-old boy were taken to hospital in unstable condition.

A 60-year-old woman, who was the driver in the second van, is in stable condition.

Police say the people in both vehicles were from the Long Plains First Nation.
