RCMP said a semi-trailer transporting hogs rolled on Highway 16 at the Trans-Canada Highway Junction on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers issued a notice shortly after 3:30 p.m. on April 9 and said Portage la Prairie RCMP were directing traffic in the area.

The 20-year-old driver of the semi was taken to hospital with none-life-threatening injuries, said RCMP.

Police said he has been charged with imprudent driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Six hogs had to be destroyed due to injuries from the collision, said police. The rest of the animals were picked up by their owner.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the province said the collision scene had been cleared.
