Another 55 people have been forced to leave two communities in northern Manitoba because of thick smoke from forest fires.

Provincial government officials now say about 735 people have left their homes in St. Theresa Point and Wasagamack.

But they also say forest fires are not directly threatening either community.

While an evacuation order has been lifted for residents of Wasagamack, about 70 people remain out of their homes.

The province is warning that a change in wind direction could again cause smoke problems in that area.

So far this year, there have been 190 forest fires in Manitoba, compared to the 20-year average of 175.
