Frontiers North Adventures, the Winnipeg organization who hosted the Google maps team last fall, said people everywhere can now explore one of the most densely populated areas of polar bears in the world.

Normally, a Google backpack camera would capture images like these, but because they worked amongst the world's largest land-roving carnivores, the mission required improvisation.

So, they strapped a camera to a tundra buggy to capture more than 40 kilometres of interactive panoramic photos.

Assiniboine Park Zoo staff members applaud it as an educational tool for connecting people to the northern environment.
