Indigenous members of Manitoba’s Liberal Party are calling for NDP Fort Rouge candidate Wab Kinew to step down.

“He should go,” said Noel Bernier, a Liberal candidate running in the constituency of St. Johns and director of the party’s northern Indigenous caucus.

Kinew has apologized for rapping misogynist lyrics in the past, but not making hurtful comments on social media, said Bernier.

He said those comments are hurting a lot of Manitobans

"Somebody needs to stand up for them and it should be Greg Selinger, and it should be the NDP. This was a party that once stood for those values, and they seem to be throwing those right out the window out the back door for Wab Kinew," said Bernier.

Wab Kinew has publically apologized. This weekend, he also posted an apology letter on Facebook to voters in Fort Rouge.

Last week the Manitoba Liberal candidate for Southdale, Jamie Hall, dropped out of the race after offensive writing on social media – including using words like ‘skank’ and ‘whore’.
