Emergency crews pulled a 16-year-old girl from a vehicle submerged in water in southwestern Manitoba. The teen from rural Saskatchewan died in hospital.

RCMP and the local fire department responded to a vehicle spotted partially submerged in the RM of Sifton, along the Harrison Bridge Road, in southwestern Manitoba around 11 p.m. on March 22.

A passerby had spotted the vehicle and called emergency services.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and the teen was wearing a seatbelt, said RCMP.

Icy road conditions and poor weather are believed to have been factors in the crash, said police.
