Winnipeg police are investigating a report that a man was masturbating in a hot tub at public pool in Winnipeg's St. James neighbourhood.

Police confirm they received a complaint of a man masturbating at St. James Assiniboia Centennial Pool on Nov. 23. Officers have taken witness statements and they are investigating.

"It's disturbing," said Kurtis Kehler, a father of two boys under 10 years old that swim at the pool regularly.

"I come here every day to do my workout and most days I even use the pool. It kind of makes me shakes my head, why I'm even going near the hot tub," Kehler said. "Somebody shouldn't even consider doing anything inappropriate like that in a public place."

Ida Mccrimmon spends time in the hot tub regularly and has never seen any suspicious activity.

"I come swimming two or three times a week and I come to the sauna and the hot tub and it's always been nice … friendly people," Mccrimmon said. "We have a lot of school programs, so it should be a safe place for children for sure."

Police said the suspect has not been identified.
