Mayor Brian Bowman said the City of Winnipeg will find the money to complete phase two of bus rapid transit.

On Tuesday, executive policy committee member John Orlikow said the $20 million annual payment needed for the $590 million project has not yet been found.

Bowman said he is committed to the bus route, but would have preferred that the money was identified by the previous council who approved the plan.

The city must earmark the funds in the upcoming budget starting in 2020.

Raising bus fares are one of the proposed options on the table to help pay for the second leg.

Bowman would not discuss funding models, saying that is part of the ongoing budget discussions.
