Multiple people, including three officers, were treated for injuries after police pursuit in Winnipeg.

Around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, officers spotted a man wanted for firearms charges, and tried to pull over the Dodge Charger he was in near St. Mary's Road and Marion Street.

While officers were trying to get occupants out of the vehicle, it reversed, almost hitting an officer standing nearby, said police.

The vehicle then drove forward, hitting another officer in the lower body before the vehicle started driving down St. Mary's Road, said police.

The driver then lost control of the vehicle and the Charger crashed into a hydro pole and fence on St. Mary's Road, near Traverse Avenue. The vehicle reversed one more and hit a police SUV, said officers.

Two suspects were arrested on scene and at least one was taken to hospital.

Witness said two other suspects fled on foot.

The suspects were tracked down by the police helicopter and the K-9 unit not long afterwards.

Marijuana and cocaine were also found in the vehicle.

People in the area said they're relieved the crash wasn't worse.

"An innocent bystander (could) get caught in the turmoil," said Fabian Laroch.

Police said they did everything they could to stop the suspect's vehicle safely.

"We don't want to become involved in pursuits. Pursuits and high rates of speeds in public streets can potentially be very dangerous," said Const. Jason Michalyshen.

A total of three officers were injured.

Three suspects have now been charged.

Alex Marjanovic, 21, faces charges for drug and weapons-related offences; Dan Marjanovic, 20, faces multiples charges for obstructing/resisting peace officer, assaulting a peace officer and drug possession; Luke Pawel Sanocki, 32, faces charges for breach of probation, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, assault with a weapon and drug possession, said police.

All three are from Winnipeg. An 18-year-old female from Winnipeg will also be facing drug-related charges following the incident, said police.
