The annual Teddy Bear Toss broke a record its first night back at the MTS Centre.

The Manitoba Moose held the event in support of the Christmas Cheer Board at their game against the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night.

The Teddy Bear Toss had been an annual tradition at Manitoba Moose games for years, but it left when the Moose did.

Now that the team is back, the Christmas Cheer Board says it's delighted the event has returned as well.

"This response has amazed me tonight,” said Susan Gill. “I know there's a video going around with the (Calgary) Hitmen and 28,000 bears. We're a smaller city, but we were lined up for two straight hours.  “People are amazing in Winnipeg. So I'm very pleased with the turnout."

In total, 2330 stuff toys were donated during this year’s teddy bear toss. The Manitoba Moose say that is a new record for the event.
