Winnipeg police are hoping a sketch will help find a murder suspect.

On Monday, police released a sketch of a man police are looking for in connection with a stabbing death at The Empire Cabaret. 24-year-old Jeff Engen was stabbed to death inside the nightclub on Nov. 18, 2007.

The stabbing came only weeks after four people were shot when a man opened fire inside the club. All four victims are recovering from their injuries.

Police have made some progress with the shootings.

Earlier this month, police arrested Richard Brass at an apartment block on the 500 block of Jefferson Ave. He tried to escape by climbing out the apartment balcony, but police managed to make the arrest. Brass is now charged with four counts of attempted murder, and police say they believe he has gang affiliations.

Nightclub is now closed

The Empire closed its doors after the shooting, and the subsequent stabbing. Club owners surrendered their liquor license after the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission announced it was looking into the club's operations.

Police are now hoping they can find a suspect in the stabbing death. If you have any information that could help identify the man in the sketch, you're asked to call the Winnipeg Police Organized Crime Unit at 986-6048, or Crime Stoppers at 786-8477.
