It's not yet known if the man charged with killing 15-year-old Tina Fontaine will apply for bail.
A lawyer in court representing Raymond Cormier said no decisions have been made.
Cormier had a scheduled court date Friday morning, but the matter was put over two weeks.
The 53-year-old is charged with second-degree murder.
Fontaine's body was discovered wrapped in a bag in the Red River in August 2014, after she was reported missing weeks earlier.
Her death galvanized support for an inquiry into missing and murdered women.
