One person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train late Thursday evening.

Police say they received a call of a train accident involving a pedestrian on Panet Road around 11:45 p.m. Thursday.

Panet Road was closed to traffic near Molson Street and Girdwood Crescent. Police cleared the scene and reopened the streets around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Paramedics took the pedestrian to hospital in critical condition. The pedestrian was upgraded to stable condition later Friday morning.

Police say alcohol might have played a role in the incident. Police continue to investigate.
