Flood preparations are underway in what the province says could be one of the hardest hit regions this spring.
In its latest outlook released Tuesday, the province predicts major flooding for Peguis First Nation, located about 145 km north of Winnipeg.
Flood coordinator William Sutherland says at least 150 homes are being protected by super sandbags. Twenty-seven homes in low lying areas are the priority.
Crews have been out since last week with heavy equipment clearing snow around the homes and putting up three to five feet wave breakers.
About 33 people are also filling sandbags, with 8,000 already done and 12,000 left to go.
