Three teens face assault and weapons charges after a stabbing at The Forks last week.

Winnipeg Police say two men were stabbed during an altercation around 12:30 a.m. on June 29, 2022. The two victims were taken to hospital with stab wounds, while a third female victim was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators say they have charged two 15-year-old girls with possessing a concealed weapon in connection to the incident. One of them has also been charged with breaching a court order.

An 18-year-old man is facing two assault charges.

None of the charges against the teens have been proven in court.

All three were suspects were released on an undertaking. The victims are all recovering.

This comes after a recent string of violent incidents at The Forks.

Police had reported a father and daughter were assaulted in a parking lot at The Forks on June 27.

Days later, a Ukrainian refugee living in Winnipeg for two weeks was stabbed at The Forks on Canada Day. Police confirmed one man was stabbed and the other sprayed with bear mace.

Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman said the violence is concerning.

"It's a terrible situation," he said while speaking to reporters Thursday. "We don't want to see anyone being hurt whether they've lived here for their entire life or they are refugees. So obviously our thoughts are with the victims of that particular incident."

Winnipeg police have said Chief Danny Smyth will be speaking with media on Friday afternoon to address the recent incidents of violence at The Forks.
