Province says 'No' to request for more time to upgrade North End water plant

A request to get more time to upgrade the North End Wastewater treament plant has been denied.

In 2011, the province asked muinicipalities to remove nutrients harming the Lake Winnipeg watershed from treatment plants.

The province says the city asked for more time to clean up it's act at the plant, but the request was not granted.

Last year, the city also agreed to treat sewage from the RM of West St. Paul.

The North End upgrades need to be completed by December 2019.
