Police issued a public advisory over a high-risk sex offender due to be released from Stony Mountain Institution on Oct. 15.

The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Offender Unit said Russell Rolando Plett, 34, is a convicted sex offender who is considered a high risk to commit further offences.

He is expected to live in Winnipeg.

According to the MIHRSOU, Plett underwent sex offender treatment while in prison but the unit adds all children are at risk.

Plett was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of sexual interference with a six-year-old boy unknown to him.

Plett is prohibited from attending public parks or swimming areas where children under the age of 16 may be present, working where anyone under that age may be working and using a computer to communicate with youth.
